A VERY SHORT STORY OF ADVANCEMENT

Over the past 60 years, we have seen the evolution of the Advancement function in educational institutions across the world. 

Today, Advancement professionals are the people in schools who are responsible for an ever-increasing set of complex functions and activities, from admissions, marketing, and communications to fundraising and alumni relations - and much more in between.

These functions can be managed by large teams, but equally will often fall on the shoulders of a single person.

We believe that, at its simplest, Advancement is all about…

THE LIFECYCLE OF SCHOOL EXPERIENCE

Leading an Advancement team for many years, we have also come to understand that every aspect of our work is integrally connected to the overall experience of a school; from the first moment a family visits a school website, through an admissions process, joining the school community, and ultimately leaving and becoming part of an alumni network. Each part of this journey is important and each experience matters.
 
We call this journey The Lifecycle of School Experience and believe that the work of Advancement is best when it is grounded in the principles of experience design.

WELCOME TO ADVANCEMENT 2.0

Today, Advancement in schools continues to evolve quickly across the world. At the same time, new challenges and new questions are emerging.

We provide a new way of seeing Advancement that we call Advancement 2.0. It’s still all about Story, People, and Process, but the manner in which we tell the story, help people find their place in that story, to say nothing of the processes that we manage in support of these goals, are re-designed for the school of the future.
