THE ENROLMENT SNAPSHOT | 2024

The Enrolment Snapshot is a tool that helps school leaders and their teams understand how their enrolment compares to wider regional and global trends.

With so many surveys taking up so much time to complete, we have designed this tool to be as simple as possible. In fact, we are only looking for one data point  - the opening enrolment number. We believe that this one metric is key when it comes to understanding how well we are doing compared to other schools around the world.

How do we define “opening enrolment”?

It can be frustrating to find that one school counts opening enrolment differently to the next. This can lead to unreliable data that doesn’t reflect the reality of what is actually happening. We have therefore defined opening enrolment as the actual number of students attending school on an agreed date at the beginning of each school year. In other words, it isn’t the number of students attending plus students who are going to join later in the year. Neither is it the number of students you wish you had! We encourage schools to record the snapshot on the same date each school year.

At this point in time, the Snapshot is designed to capture data only for schools using a calendar that runs from August/September to June/July. There will be another chance, early in 2025, for schools running from January to December.

So what data will I be asked to provide?

To participate in The Enrolment Snapshot 2024, you are required to submit contact details, the name of your school, and the Opening Enrolment for 2024.

There will also be the option to add the Opening Enrolment for 2020-2023, if you have these details to hand. Adding this additional information will allow you to see trends. The Enrolment Snapshot 2024 deadline is 10 November 2024.

How will we share the data?

Last year, we were delighted to build a new partnership between [YELLOW CAR] and the Learning Analytics Collaborative by Consilience™. By working together, we ensure state-of-the-art visualisation of results.

In practice, this means that each participating school will be able to log into a secure platform and see the evolution of their enrolment compared to what is happening in their region and on a global scale. At the same time, schools will not be able to see the current enrolment of their individual competitors.
